Jay Barrett/KMXT
This week KMXT is airing interviews with the three candidates vying to represent Kodiak in the Alaska State House. Wednesday, Jay Barrett spoke with Andy Lundquist, and Friday we’ll air an interview with Dave Kaplan, both Democrats. Today, Jay speaks with the only Republican in the race, Alan Austerman. He is a lifelong Kodiak resident, and fished commercially since he was in high school. He now works as a consultant. Austerman first got into politics in the mid-1980s, serving eight years on the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. He has no opponent in the Republican primary after Lonnie White withdrew from the race.
