Coast Guard Assists Drifting Equinox

The Coast Guard cutter Spar is assisting a disabled fishing vessel that lost power about 270 miles southeast of Kodiak over the weekend.

The crew of the 58-foot Equinox, a Petersburg-based longliner, reported early Sunday morning that the vessel’s engine had lost power.

The Spar reached the Equinox at about 1:30 a.m. Monday (today) to tow the vessel to Kodiak. The Equinox hasthree people aboard and no injuries or pollution has been reported.

Both vessels are scheduled to arrive in Kodiak early Tuesday.
