Kodiak Senior Trevor Dunbar finished his high school cross country running career with an exclamation point Saturday, by setting a new Palmer course record in winning his third straight state championship title. His time of 15-minutes 7.8 seconds was 48 seconds faster than Aaron Fletcher of South Anchorage.
Kodiak took third and fourth in the boy’s race, with Dylan Anthony edging Sam Salus by 6-10ths of a second. The Bears cruised to their third straight team victory with 45 points to Service’s 56. West Valley had 107, West Anchorage 142 and Colony 157.
The Kodiak girls were led, as they have all season, by Chloe Ivanoff, who finished fifth in the girl’s race, with a time of 19-minutes 14.9-seconds. As a team, the Bears were 9th, with 185 points. West Anchorage was first with 56, followed by Colony, Service, Juneau, and West Valley.
