One of the new faces you’ll see on the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly later this month is Judy Fulp. She won election last week along side incumbent Sue Jeffrey and write-in candidate Dave Kaplan.
Fulp, whose husband Ian is the long-time head of the city’s parks and recreation department, and whose son Luke is the school district’s finance director, says she has extra time on her hands now to devote to the assembly:

Fulp, who’s lived in Kodiak for 45 years, has prior experience in local government, and says she knows that the borough is facing a lot of new and ongoing challenges:

Fulp says securing funding for projects and getting a fair share of state and federal funds would be one of her priorities:

If the borough clerk’s office finishes the count of absentee and questioned ballots tomorrow as scheduled, Fulp, along with Jeffrey and Kaplan, will be sworn in at Thursday night’s regular assembly meeting and will officially take office next Monday. If, for some reason, the count is not finished, a special meeting will be called next week to swear in the new assemblymembers and they’ll take office the week after.
