KHS Tennis: ‘End Of Season Is Our Season’

The Kodiak High School Tennis Team, which is only in its third year, played in its second state championship tournament over the weekend. Head Coach Craig Johnson says twice as many players made the trip to Anchorage than last year, and the team performed well, especially considering their regular season is non-existant.

Head Coach Craig Johnson says twice as many players made the trip to Anchorage than last year, and the team performed well, especially boys’ singles player Brent Michalski (m’house-ski), who advanced to the quarterfinals by downing Dimond High School’s top-ranked player:

The boy’s doubles team is made up of Nick Edmunds and Jake Powell.

Johnson said the Bears are at a disadvantage compared to other teams because their regular season is practically non-existent:

Kodiak racked up six team points in the tourney. The team title was won by West Anchorage High School with 35 points, followed by South Anchorage, Juneau, East Anchorage and West Valley Fairbanks.
