It was a mixed bag of results for the Kodiak High School Bears basketball teams over the weekend.
The girls started the Golden Heart Tournament in Fairbanks on Thursday with a first round loss to Lathrop 37-to-29, but came back on Friday to beat West Valley 38-36. On Saturday it took triple overtime, but the Lady Bears outlasted the Sitka Wolves to win by a score of 40 to 35.
The Kodiak boys started conference play Friday at home against perennial rival Wasilla. The Bears couldn’t keep up, scoring only four points in the final period, and lost by 19, 56-37.
In their Saturday rematch the Bears outscored the Warriors in the first period, but were held to single digits during the other three, and fell 63-to-34.
