Girls Split, Boys Fade, in Fairbanks

On Friday, the Kodiak High School girls downed North Pole 53-to-32. The Bears were lead by Rachel Norton, who downed 18 points. On Saturday, Kodiak fell to West Valley 54-to-41.

Meanwhile, the Kodiak High School boys were short-handed on their trip to the Interior, and faded in the second half of games against North Pole and West Valley.

On Friday, the North Pole Patriots came from a half-time deficit to down the Bears 61-to-50. Raphael Matautia led Kodiak with 25 points.

Meanwhile, the West Valley Wolfpack also rallied from behind to beat the Bears, though it took overtime to do it. Kodiak lead 36-25 at the half, but succumbed to the full-court press, and were outscored 18-to-9 in the third quarter and 20-to-18 in the fourth, to tie the game at 63 at the end of regulation. Kodiak was outscored 11-to-9 in overtime. David Diocares led all scorers with 35 points, with Matautia adding 19.
