< ![endif]--> < ![endif]--> The issue of gathering data on crewmen has no resolution in sight. Supporters say the data would help local governments and the state better understand the economic contributions of crewmen. Boat owners don’t want to be burdened with gathering the data and the Department of Fish and Game doesn’t want to compile the data unless they’re funded to do so.

Terry Haines is on the Kodiak City Council and is involved with the Alaska Municipal League and the Crewman’s Association. He’s been active in efforts to get the state to start collecting data on crewman. As a guest on last week’s Talk of the Rock he explained why collecting and compiling crewmen data is necessary.
