The Kodiak Electric Association will welcome three of its board members back into the fold this April. The three candidates are all incumbents with no one to challenge their places on the Board of Directors. Michael C. Brechan, who has served 27 years on the board, finds this encouraging.

“I’d have to say that they’re pretty happy with the way things are going in the utility, because if they weren’t, people would run to change things,” he said.

Chairman Cliff Davidson credits the board and its impact on the community.

“We have a very interesting board. A very hard working board,” he said. “’Course, the fact that we’ve not had to raise the price of our energy for almost, I think maybe 15 years, is also I think one reason people think, well, we’ve better keep these guys around.”

Secretary/Treasurer Stosh Anderson agreed, saying, “I think we’ve done very well as far as keeping energy costs low and been very progressive on the renewable energy front.”

The deadline for KEA members to mail in their ballots is Friday, April 17th.  KEA will announce the results at the 73rd Annual Membership meeting the next Monday, April 20th.
