At Tuesday’s Kodiak Island Borough municipal election debate, candidates for the Kodiak Island Borough School District Board of Education, Kodiak City Mayor, and the Kodiak City Council ran uncontested. However, some chose to step up and make a statement either themselves or through representatives.

KMXT hosted the debate alongside the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce and Lindsay Knight, the president of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, served as moderator. Here are some excerpts from each candidate’s statement.
