A public forum tonight will provide an overview on drug issues in Kodiak. Trevor Brown, the executive director of the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, says the drug problems in Kodiak have come to the forefront recently.

“Because of all the break ins and things, the high-profile things, the drug needles and things and paraphernalia, I think it’s just become unacceptable to the general public that this is happening, and it’s not just affecting the person that’s doing it. It’s affecting everybody.”

He says there will be fifteen panelists at the event tonight.

“The purpose is basically to start a dialogue between the organizations, people who are involved in the treatment, enforcement, judicial side of it, our public officials, and kinda the general public who may not know what’s already being done or kind of an exchange of information and a question and answer.”

The Kodiak Chamber of Commerce and KMXT are hosting the forum together and it will take place tonight at the Kodiak Convention Center between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. You can also tune in live at KMXT 100.1 FM or KMXT.org.
