Beyond the Cover Feature: Local Kodiak Author Stacy Studebaker. Stacy has worked in the school district teaching Science for 20 years. She is a founding member of the Audobon Society, and won the 2011 Celia Hunter Award by the Alaska Conservation Foundation for a lifetime of conservation work. She founded Sense of Place Press and has published 3 books, WildFlowers and other Plant Life of the Kodiak Archipelago (2010), Hey Bear Ho Bear (2013) and Octopus in the Outhouse (2015). She discusses her books and upcoming book reading events, working and living in Alaska and her inspiration and process of writing and publishing her work.

 

Also this Month Celia Whitehead from the Kodiak Public Library joins us with a small introduction to battle of the books and a brief review of the top 3 books so far this year: El Deafo by Cece Bell, Who is Stan Lee by Geoff Edgers, and Endangered by Eliot Schrefer.
