Kodiak High School Sports Underway

The Kodiak High School Bears notched a solid win in its first game of the 2016 prep football season. The Bears engineered two long scoring drives to defeat the Houston Hawks 14-0 on Friday evening at Baranof Park.

It was somewhat of a defensive battle, with Kodiak holding Houston to only 108 yards, while only racking up 132 of its own. There were six interceptions in the game, four by the Bears.

The 1-and-0 Bears will play in Juneau this Friday.

In cross-country, the Kodiak boys were second and the girls were fourth at the Colony Invite. Both were led by a pair of top-ten finishes. Keith Osowski was second and Jack Hannah was sixth for the boys while Arielle Himelbloom and HoneyRose Macatuno were eight-nine in the girls’ race.
