Next month, voters will choose who will fill a three-year seat on the Kodiak Island Borough School District Board of Education.

Running for the board is Kelly Bell, who arrived to Kodiak in 2013 with a background in education and is currently the preschool director at the Kodiak Baptist Mission. Also running is long-time resident and retired teacher, Julie Hill, who now works as services coordinator for the Kodiak Island Housing Authority.

Thursday night, both educators participated in a candidate forum sponsored by the Kodiak Community Educational Alliance.

Moderator Lindsay Knight posed a series of questions – here are some of them with excerpts from Bell and Hill’s answers. Bell’s answers are presented first.
