Tusty Skips Port Lions and Ouzinkie Due To Storm Warning

tustumena_returns.jpgThe people of two small Kodiak Island Borough communities won’t see ferry service today. That’s because of the storm coming through.

Due to the heavy weather forecast of seas over 20-feet for Southcentral waters tonight and tomorrow morning, the Alaska State ferry Tustumena will be skipping its calls to Port Lions and Ouzinkie.

The Tusty made it to Kodiak early Monday morning, and was scheduled to sail straight for Homer the same afternoon, bypassing Port Lions and Ouzinkie.

The Tustumena will arrive in Homer at about 9:30 tonight, and is scheduled to sail for Seldovia on its regular published schedule just before noon Tuesday.

The ferry system is attempting to contact all affected passengers. For more information, you can check FerryAlaska.com.
