Still no details available on CG MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter ‘mishap’ in Cordova

On the afternoon April 26, a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak was involved in what was said to be a “mishap” on the ground in Cordova.

The incident took place at the Air Station’s aviation support facility where they regularly deploy helicopters and crews to assist with search and rescue cases.

Little information has been made public about the incident. The Coast Guard issued a brief, three sentence statement the first week of May in response to a KMXT News request for details. The statement acknowledged that a ‘mishap’ had taken place and that no one was injured.

Coast Guard Captain Bryan Dailey, who is the commanding officer of the Air Station, has declined KMXT’s request for an interview. However, Coast Guard 17th District spokesperson, Lauren Dean did provide an update to KMXT on Monday.

“The aircraft involved in the mishap in Cordova has been repaired and is in Kodiak. The investigations into that mishap have not been finalized so I am unable to provide any further details at this time.”

Since this is an ongoing story, KMXT will provide updates as we receive them.
