ATV accident on Saltery Cove Trail leads to Coast Guard medevac

An unidentified adult female was medevaced on Sunday following a single ATV accident on the Saltery Cove Trail.

According to the Alaska State Troopers’ Dispatch posted online the call for assistance was received shortly after 5 p.m. Both regular troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers along with City of Kodiak EMS responded.

Several people in the area helped with the search and the victim was found on the trail.

Due to the terrain, distance and injuries, a Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH60 crew was called out to medevac the driver and transport him to an awaiting ambulance.

The troopers report alcohol and speed were not factors in this case.
