OBI Seafoods to close Larsen Bay processing plant for 2024 season

Updated Feb. 2, 2024 OBI Seafoods announced Wednesday, Jan. 31 it will not open its summer fish processing plant in Larsen Bay, on the west end of Kodiak Island. Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley returns to Kodiak

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley is back in Kodiak after 45 days patrolling the Bering Sea. The cutter’s escapades include responding to fires on the Genius Star XI outside of Dutch Harbor. Kodiak cold snap features coldest temperatures of the season so far, pales in comparison to record low
