The Southeast section of Kodiak’s Tanner crab fishery will close at 6 p.m. Monday evening, marking the end of this year’s commercial fishing season. While efforts to repatriate Alaska Native remains have been ongoing, keeping track of those remains has been difficult. A fishing vessel capsized offshore from Chiniak yesterday, requiring the Coast Guard [USCG] to send a rescue crew. No fatalities were reported. Weather conditions at the time included 30 knot winds and eight foot seas.
