Federal Subsistence Board sides with Kodiak Regional Advisory Council, increases harvest of deer and keeps antlerless rule

Federally qualified subsistence deer hunters in the Kodiak Archipelago will be able to take four black-tailed deer annually. Hunters are currently only allowed three deer between August and the end of January. Kodiak High School students stage walkout to protest governor vetoing education funding

Over 100 Kodiak High School students walked out of classes today (April 4) as part of a statewide protest over Alaska Gov. Aboard the Oscar Dyson, NOAA to pursue new research near Kodiak

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research vessel Oscar Dyson left its homeport in Kodiak on April 1. The boat mostly provides insight into Alaska’s fish populations, from the Gulf of Alaska to the Bering Sea.  The Oscar Dyson docked at Kodiak’s Pier 2 on March 31.
