Dr. Brennan Smith joined the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences faculty as an assistant professor on September 10. Maggie Wall/KMXT A number of Kodiak Island residents felt the shake of a moderate earthquake which struck off Ahkiok late Monday afternoon. The Alaska Tsunami Warning Center reports that the quake occurred at 5:45 p.m. Monday and was located 90 southwest of the city of Kodiak.
