Governor Bill Walker declared this week Alaska Invasive Species Awareness Week. In observation, Talk of the Rock invited Blythe Brown from the Kodiak Soil and Water Conservation District onto the show with three of her summer interns. They talk about weeds, invasive flowers, and other introduced species on Kodiak Island and what they’ve been doing about them.

On Saturday, Republican Senator Dan Sullivan held a town hall in the city of Kodiak and fielded questions from the public. KMXT was there at the Afognak building on Near Island to record community members’ comments and get Sullivan’s responses. For this week’s Talk of the Rock, KMXT airs part of that town hall meeting.
