The House District 36 Democratic Primary Election is finally over. After more than three weeks of waiting for absentee, questioned and overseas ballots to trickle in, Andy Lundquist has held on and narrowly defeated fellow Democrat Dave Kaplan.
While Lundquist picked up four votes yesterday when the overseas ballots were counted, Kaplan received five, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 18-vote difference in the race. Lundquist squeak out a 601 to 584 victory, a difference of 1-point-44 percent.
Kaplan said last week that he would not seek a recount if he lost, and he will now pursue a write-in campaign for borough assembly.
Lundquist will now face Republican candidate Alan Austerman in the November 4th General Election.
