PFD And Energy Rebate Total $3,269

Jay Barrett/KMXT

The State of Alaska announced at 10:30 this (Friday) morning the amount of the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend check. It will be $2,069. This year, every eligible Alaskan will be getting a $1,200 bonus as an Energy Rebate, to help offset the increasing cost of heating fuel and electricity. The state legislature passed the rebate this summer during one of its special sessions, at the request of Governor Sarah Palin.

The PFD amount is the largest ever, and reflects the return on investment of the Alaska Permanent Fund, averaged over several years.

In addition to being larger by far, the payments will be going out to Alaskans about a month earlier than usual. Those who selected direct electronic deposit will see the $3,269 show up in their bank accounts a week from today, on September 12th.
