Casey Kelly – Mike Murray/KMXT
We can all use a little help with math every now and then, whether it’s balancing our checkbooks or calculating how much gas we need to make it to Chiniak and back. For that reason, Kodiak Middle School is sponsoring a math night for parents, tonight at the school commons.
The purpose is to teach parents how they can help students with their homework. Math teacher Christy Lyle was on KMXT’s Talk of the Rock last Friday and said a lot has probably changed since most parents took their last math class.
(Lyle One :37s “…practice again and again.”)
Lyle says there’s no reason to be intimidated just because it’s math. She says many parents might be surprised at how easy some of the problems are to solve.
(Lyle Two :33s “…the kids are learning math.”)
Math Night at Kodiak Middle School is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the middle school commons. The gym will also be open for kids to play and everyone who comes will get an ice cream treat.
