The field of candidates for the Kodiak City Manager’s job is 18, and that includes five Alaskans. That word from City Clerk Debbie Marlar. She said the city council will begin reviewing the applications on Tuesday at the end of the work session, and continue after the regular council meeting next Thursday if need be. That’s where there’ll select the semi-finalists.

The names of the 18 applicants, and where they’re from, have not been revealed, but Marlar says once the semi-finalists are picked, they’ll be asked to sign a release of information form, and their names will be available.

Interviews would then be at least a few weeks after the semi-finalists are selected.

(Manager 2 16 sec "I imagine will … meetings to speed up the processes.")

The process may need speeding up because current City Manager Linda Freed is schedule to retire in less than three months.

(Manager 3 14 sec "I believe that an applicant … has not yet been decided.")
