Hunting Proposals Before Advisory Committee

The Kodiak Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet next week to discuss and take action on proposals concerning the hunting of deer, mountain goat, feral reindeer and brown bear. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will also give an update on sea otters at the meeting. KMXT’s Erik Wander has more.

John Cry is an area wildlife biologist with Fish and Game. He talked about the proposals that will be discussed at the meeting.

Cry said the proposal for changing brown bear permit regulations relates largely to people who come to Kodiak from other places to hunt.

Cry also said the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will provide an update on sea otter populations at the meeting.

The Kodiak Fish and Game Advisory Committee meeting takes place Tuesday, February 17^th at 7 p.m. at the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitors’ Center.
