Mayor Floyd Makes Appointments

Kodiak City Mayor Carolyn Floyd appointed several people to seats on advisory boards at the city council’s regular meeting Thursday evening.

Included among the mayoral appointees were Betty MacTavish to a seat on the Parks and Recreation advisory board for a term that ends December 31st, 2009, as well as Anne Kalcic, Stormy Stutes and Nick Szabo to seats on the Ports and Harbors advisory board for terms ending December 31st, 2011. In addition, Harold Jones and Rick Kniaziowski were appointed as alternates on the Ports and Harbors advisory board.

City councilman Tom Walters said the city is grateful for the efforts and service of the board members and the work they do for the city.

Councilman Terry Haines said at the meeting that the city has been fortunate to have found high-quality people to volunteer for seats on advisory boards until now and also appreciates their service to the community.

Councilman Jack Maker pointed out that open seats remain on several other advisory boards and encouraged interested residents to consider applying.

At Tuesday’s work session, city council members interviewed applicants for the open seats. Members of advisory boards are appointed by the city mayor and confirmed by the council.
