Electric Car Sparks Lions Raffle

There’s another electric vehicle in Kodiak, and this one could be yours.

The Zap Car, joins a pair of ZENN electric cars and at least one electric scooter in Kodiak’s alternative energy transportation fleet.

Debbie Hall is with the Kodiak Lions Club, which is giving the three-wheeled vehicle away.

(Zap 1 28 sec "It’s a Zap Xebra electric … want to ride a bike.")

The Zap Car can be recharged from any outlet, and usually retails for about 12-thousand dollars. The proceeds from the Lions’ raffle will go toward sending Kodiak’s entrants to the National Soapbox Derby Championships in Akron, Ohio.

Rolan Ruoss (rooce), owner and operator of Seahawk Air, brought a pair of ZENN electric cars to Kodiak over a year ago, and has been seen driving them no matter the season. Hall says she liked the ZENN cars, but they’re a little more expensive than the Zap Car:

(Zap 2 13 sec "I looked at those … they look really awesome.")

Somehow Hall has resisted the urge to take the Zap Car for a spin around the block:

(Zap 3 17 sec "I haven’t. Louis … I haven’t been there yet.")

Since it’s bright neon lime green, the Zap Car can’t be missed, parked in front of Sweeney Insurance downtown. Find a Lion’s Club member if you’re interested in tickets.
