Kodiak’s annual Whale Fest celebration is coming up this month, despite the cold and snow. And while sightings of baleen whales and orca are on the increase, the well-known pod called "The Kodiak Killers" are late in visiting the Near Island Channel again this year. As University of Alaska whale expert Bree Witteveen tells KMXT’s Jay Barrett, there may be cause for concern.

You can find Witteveen’s whale sighting reports, and more information on upcoming events, at Whale Fest Kodiak. And if you have a whale sighting, you can find contact information to alert Witteveen so she can pass it on.
