The Kodiak High School Bears’ quest to repeat as state softball champions is over.

After being bounced into the losers’ bracket in game one Friday morning against Ketchikan 7-6, the Bears eliminated Homer Friday afternoon 8-7.

At 9 a.m. Saturday, Kodiak faced off against Monroe Catholic and beat them 9-to-3. Then they had to turn around and play Sitka almost immediately.

In a back-and-forth game, Sitka downed Kodiak 6-5 in eight innings. Ketchikan then beat Sitka 5-4 to clinch the title.

Kodiak’s Carrie Ferris and Emily Garner were named to the All-Tournament Team.
