Local amateur radio operators got together Saturday to try and make contact with as many others of their kind across the nation as they could, in what is known as the Amateur Radio Relay League’s annual Field Day. KMXT’s Jay Barrett visited the bunker at the Kodiak Military History Museum and spoke with Mike Dolph, Joe Stevens and Curt Law of the Kodiak Amateur Radio Emergency Service group, which organized the event locally.
There are regular opportunities for people interested in amateur radio to get involved locally. Just keep your ear to public radio for announcements.
