The October 6th Regular Borough Election might seem a long way off but the deadline to file as a candidate for any of the offices is not. In fact, this afternoon (Monday, Aug.17) at 4:30 p.m. is the filing deadline .

There are many positions to be filled by the election and yet, as of Friday, according to the Borough Clerk’s office, only one individual has declared.

To be filled at this election are two borough assembly seats and two school board seats. Also to be filled are: two seats for the Fire Protection Area One Board, two seats for the Bay View Road Service Area Board, two seats for the Womens Bay Road Service Area Board and two seats for the Monashka Bay Road Service Area Board. The current roster of candidates, or rather candidate includes one name only: Darlene Turner has filed for one of the seats on the Monashka Bay Road Service Area Board.

Anyone else who would like to file as a candidate has until this afternoon (Monday) at 4:30 pm in the Borough Clerk’s office.
