How can state government team up with Alaskans to create long term energy projects that work for local communities? A group of senators are travelling around the state holding field hearings in hopes of answering that question. Members of the senate resource and energy committees want to hear what challenges Alaskans are facing in heating their homes and finding reliable and affordable sources of electricity.

Michelle Sydeman is a resources committee staff person. She spoke with KMXT’s Diana Gish about Tuesday’s field hearing in Kodiak.

The resource and energy field hearing takes place Tuesday night, September 1st from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly chambers. Senator Gary Stevens is one of the senators scheduled to attend.
