The state convention of chambers of commerce is being held in Homer, and the folks from Kodiak’s chamber will be bringing home quite an honor: The 2009 Outstanding Chamber of Commerce Award.

Executive Director Debora King received the award Tuesday night at the opening banquet. She said hard work by her outstanding staff and board of directors – as well as a little luck, contributed to Kodiak’s selection.

(Chamber 1 38 sec "I think the diversification … value, and benefits.")

The chamber convention brought together representatives from 42 chambers of commerce from across the state. King said the networking potential of such gatherings is vital, especially for isolated chambers like Kodiak’s:

(Chamber 2 54 sec "Meeting peers from across … as the state level.")
