Healthcare reform is the subject of an upcoming town hall meeting in Kodiak. Senator Lisa Murkowski will take part in the meeting via live video from Washington. The meeting is sponsored by the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce. Pam Foreman is the community relations director for the chamber.

Since the town hall video conference is geared specifically for Kodiak Island participants, the Senator will not be addressing other communities at the same time. Murkowski will deliver her remarks to those gathered on Monday, September 14th in the auditorium as well as those listening to the meeting on the radio.

National healthcare reform is one of the most hotly debated issues around the nation right now. During Senator Mark Begich’s recent visit to Anchorage, a loud group of protestors gathered outside the Egan Convention Center to demand a town hall meeting on the topic. Foreman acknowledged that the issue of healthcare is one that people tend to get very emotional about.

The Kodiak town hall meeting on healthcare will take place Monday, September 14th at the Gerald C. Wilson auditorium from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. .

(Healthcare 4 "We’re …will be participating.")

If you have a question on healthcare reform for Senator Murkowski but are unable to attend, you can contact the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce to have your question forwarded. There will be no opportunity for calling in questions once the meeting has begun. Foreman says that on-site meeting participants should be seated by 11:20 am.

KMXT will broadcast the meeting live.
