The state ferry Tustumena is headed to Seward for repairs. Alaska Department of Transportation spokesman Roger Wetherell says the boat’s vehicle lift experienced an unspecified malfunction while offloading in Seldovia Sunday night.

Wetherell says he doesn’t have a timeline for when the Tusty will return to service. But he hopes it’ll be soon.

This is the second time in a week that the 45-year-old Tustumena has been stuck in port. Last Wednesday a scheduled sailing from Kodiak to Homer was delayed for 24 hours due to high winds.
