The harbormasters and port administrators have returned to their home ports following last week’s statewide conference in Kodiak. By all accounts the four day event was a success.

One of those that took part was Jean Barrett, the port director of Dillingham. KMXT’s Diana Gish asked him what he hoped to get out of his stay in Kodiak.

–(Harbormaster 1"Well, contacts, learn … that’s it!")

Kodiak Harbormaster Marty Owen said that both he and the visiting harbormasters were pleased with the outcome.

–(Harbormaster 2"I think it went …kind of thing.")

One reason for the smiles may have been the food that was served to the participants. The Harbormaster’s office had some of the meals catered by Kodiak High School’s Culinary Arts class.

Owen said that 65 people took part in the conference. With the exception of Cordova, all of Alaska’s harbors and ports were represented.
