The Borough Clerk’s Office sent out a notice this morning showing there are 197 absentee ballots, 126 questioned ballots, and seven ballots cast by a personal representative for someone who otherwise couldn’t make it to a polling place. That’s a total of 330 outstanding ballots, however that number could grow once the number of questioned ballots from the villages and Chiniak are known. The canvassing of the election will be done next Wednesday.
Overall, voter turnout was unofficially pegged at 27 percent, with about 2,606 people – out of 9,649 registered voters – casting a ballot.
