In the last week of October, 67 people with flu-like symptoms sought help at the emergency room of Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center. That’s up from an earlier weekly average of 15. Although the number of trips to ER increased last week, none of the patients required hospitalization.

And if you’re curious about the total number of Swine Flu cases in Kodiak, KMXT’s Diana Gish reports that those numbers aren’t as easily tracked.

While the State Department of Health is unable to determine exactly how many cases of Swine Flu are in Kodiak they have confirmed that 8 people were hospitalized for the illness in the last two weeks. That’s up from zero for the August first to October first time frame.
