The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly is moving forward on an island-wide transportation feasibility study.

A consulting firm has been selected from a group of candidates that submitted proposals. At last week’s assembly work session, borough Manager Rick Gifford announced the name of the company that was selected to carry out the study.

Once the assembly approves a contract, the firm is expected to jump into the study immediately.

(Transportation 2 "And the first … study for us.")

Gifford explained the background of the transportation feasibility study.

(Transportation 3 "4 or 5 years…what started it.")

The contract with the MacDowell group is for 199,000 dollars, all of which will be paid for with grant funding.

(Transportation 4 "We were able … that might be.")

The assembly is expected to approve that contract this Thursday at their regular meeting.
