Tonight there will be a public meeting to discuss the planning of waterfront improvements for Kodiak. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and takes place at the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center.
The city is looking for public comments and opinions about existing waterfront facilities in order to determine how to improve the area.
Kodiak city manager Aimee Kniaziowski explained more about tonight’s event which will include a presentation by the engineering firm Dowl HKM.

The Kodiak Waterfront Plan public meeting takes place tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center.

Kniaziowski said the goal and the challenge is to balance the needs of tourism, fishing and local residents.
The project manager for Dowl HKM is Aaron Christie.

Both Christie and Kniazioski stressed that this is a vital time for public participation in the planning process.
