A group of hikers got into difficulties coming back down Pyramid Mountain Sunday night.

Around 7:30 p.m. the mother of two of the hikers reported that the group had not returned from a day hike. Their last known location was at the ridge between the North and South Bowl of Pyramid, several hundred feet below the peak to the north. State Troopers, the Coast Guard Fire Department and Military Police, and several search and rescue volunteers responded to the call. After getting some help finding their way in the dark, the six made it down the mountain safely after midnight.

One of the board members of Kodiak Island Search and Rescue is Nick Zsabo who described the events of Sunday night.

(Pyramid "and the troopers …down this morning.")

The six hikers were between 14 and 31 years old and all from Kodiak. No one in the group was injured.
