In the spring a gardener’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of planting

Saturday is officially the first day of spring for 2010. Here in the northern hemisphere, spring officially begins when the sun moves north across the equator.

For some, the spring equinox means planting time which is why Sustainable Kodiak is hosting a gardening workshop at Kodiak College tonight.

Conducting the workshop is Marion Owen. She offered a preview of some of the topics she’ll cover at tonight’s workshop.

Owen teaches organic gardening and might be described as obsessed when it comes to her pursuit of knowledge about growing things. But, she says, that mindset is not a requirement for gardening.

Friday night’s workshop is free and open to everyone. It begins at 6:30 in room 130 of the Benny Benson building at Kodiak College.
