Three seats on Kodiak Electric Association’s board of directors are up for election this year. The deadline for submitting nominating petitions was 5 p.m. yesterday.

This year, the seats currently held by directors Gordon Gould, Jay Johnston and Dan Rohrer are up for election. All three seats are for three-year terms.

Rohrer has decided not to seek a third term on the board.

The other incumbent directors, Gould and Johnston, have filed petition packets for the election. Gould says he wants to remain on the board because he wants to help continue KEA’s current direction.

(KEA BOD 1 "Basically its to … on these projects.")

The challengers are Scott Arndt, Linda Freed, Dan Ogg and Curt Law, who explained his reason for wanting to serve on the KEA board.

(KEA BOD 2 "KEA is going … restored sooner.")

KEA’s board of directors consists of nine elected voting directors and one U.S. Coast Guard appointed non-voting liason. To be eligible for the board, candidates must be members of KEA.

A candidates’ forum will be held on March 16th in the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly chambers. The event will be broadcast and KEA members will have the opportunity to call in questions during the program.

Ballots will go out to members on March 18th, and must be returned by noon on Friday, April 9th. All voting will be done by mail.

Election results will be announced at KEA’s annual membership meeting in April.
