The Alaska Fisheries Report with Jay Barrett

Coming up on this week’s edition, the Coast Guard says overloading and bad decisions caused the Katmai to go down in 2008; increased observer coverage could be a problem for small boat fishermen in the Gulf; and the connection between Aleut heritage and commercial fishing. We had help this week from KFSK’s Matt Lichtenstein in Petersburg, KBBI’s Marcia Lynn in Homer, and perhaps for the last time, KUCB’s Anne Hillman in Unalaska. Anne is moving up the corporate ladder at KUCB, and will be turning over the reins of the news department to a new reporter soon. We wish them luck, because they’ll have big Xtra-Tuffs to fill. Thanks for everything, Anne.
