The Alaska Fisheries Report with Jay Barrett

Coming up on this week’s show, Togiak herring is underway, Copper River King Mania is about to begin, and doing the Forbidden Dance with Captain Sig. We had help from Deckboss Blogger and Petroleum News writer Wesley Loy vacationing in Knoxville, Tennessee; and KCAW’s Robert Woolsey in Sitka.

The Alaska Fisheries Report was fortunate enough to win First Place in the Best Ongoing Public Affairs Program category at the Alaska Press Club Awards Banquet last weekend in Anchorage.

Dozens of contributors from around the state – mostly from public radio stations – make this show possible. Without their help, there’s no way to cover the scores of fisheries that range from individual divers plucking sea cucumbers from the ocean floor to the huge factory trawlers harvesting pollock in the Bering Sea that make your Filet-o-Fish so darn tasty.

This award belongs to all of them as much as anybody, so please join us in thanking the reporters at the public radio station around Alaska for all they do.

And a thank-you to our sponsors, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, Alaska Boats and Permits, the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association, the Pebble Partnership, and ConocoPhillips Alaska, whose support makes this show possible.
