Antone Larsen Bay Road will be closed to vehicular traffic most of next week so the Department of Transportation can do permanent repairs at the switchback, which was damaged by the October storm last year.

Merle Sena is a project engineer for DOT:

(Antone 1 25 sec "There were two … 45-foot embankment there.")

After the flood waters passed DOT was able to install a temporary eight-foot culvert to keep the road from washing away, but more needs to be done.

(Antone 2 22 sec "That stream there is one 12-foot diameter culvert.")

As a result, Antone Larsen Bay Road will be completely closed to vehicle traffic starting late Monday, but as Sena points out, accommodations will be made to still get people through.

(Antone 3 23 sec "We are going to have a shuttle … and from the work zone.")

He said message boards will be posted on both ends of the road, and the shuttle will pick up people who arrive at the Antone Larsen boat launch.

Once again, Antone Larsen Bay Road will be closed to vehicular traffic at 6 p.m. Monday night through noon next Friday.
