When the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly meets tonight members will consider two contracts that relate to economic development.
The first deals with the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, the other has to do with the Kodiak Island Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The borough provides a large portion of funding for both non-profits. In return the chamber provides economic planning and project development within the borough. The visitors bureau markets Kodiak as a destination and provides tourism development services inside the borough.
In other business, assembly members will act as a board of adjustment in an appeal of a planning and zoning decision in the Pasagshak Subdivision.
Richard and Nancy Diemer are appealing a neighbor’s operation of a full service lodge.*
The borough assembly meets in the assembly chambers at 7:30 this evening. As always, the meeting will be broadcast live here on KMXT.
*A previous version of this story mistakenly identified the Diemers as the operators of the lodge.
