KODIAK, Alaska – The Coast Guard Cutter Alert, a 210-foot medium endurance cutter from Astoria, Ore., arrived in Kodiak Friday. The Alert’s crew will attend the Kodiak-based North Pacific Regional Fisheries Training Center before undertaking a patrol in the Bering Sea. It’s a rare occurrence for the 210-foot cutters as most Alaska patrols are conducted by high endurance ships, or the Alaska-based Cutters Acushnet and Alex Haley.
